We are so excited for Baptism Sunday at The Heart LA! Join us on Sunday, August 28th at 10 am for water baptisms. When someone chooses to get water baptized, that is simply a sign that they have chosen to give their heart to Jesus. They are not perfect, but striving to have a heart like God. Here are three reasons why you should get water baptized if you have not done so yet. 

#1: You have recently given your heart to Jesus. 

After someone gives their heart to Jesus, one of the next steps in their walk with the Lord is to get water baptized. Some churches sprinkle babies, but at the Heart LA we believe in full immersion. That is a fancy way to say we dunk you all the way under the water! 

We believe that this is symbolic for the new life in Christ. When you go down in the water, it shows the death of the sinful nature. When you come back up out of the water, that represents the new life in Christ. So have you recently given your heart to Christ? Now is a GREAT time to get water baptized!

#2: Jesus set an example for us in the New Testament. 

In Matthew 3, John the Baptist baptized Jesus. At first, John hesitated because he did not think he was worthy. He said that Jesus should baptize him. But Jesus showed John that he himself needed to be water baptized to fulfill all righteousness. What a great example that Jesus set for us! Jesus got water baptized. We should follow in his footsteps and be baptized as well.

#3: Baptism is an outward declaration of an inward transformation. 

Water baptism does not save you. This event is simply an outward declaration of something that has already happened in a person’ heart. When you get baptized, you are saying to your family and friends (and anyone else who attends), I’m serving the Lord now! It is a public statement of the transforming work that Christ is doing on the inside of you.
