Life-changing is usually not the word you would use to describe a trip to Starbucks. However, on this day, the day that changed everything, Devon sat at his usual spot at the Starbucks on Wilshire and Detroit enjoying a simple cup of coffee. He looked up. Across the street, he saw something he had not seen before.

Church on Sunday

'Church? I haven't been to church since I moved to Los Angeles. Come to think of it, I don't think I've been to church since I was a kid,' Devon thought to himself. He made a decision in that moment that he would try out this interesting church that was located in a building that used to be a nightclub.

Devon had been searching for the truth. He had tried everything. From new age beliefs and practices to Hindu temples, Devon knew he was missing something. There was a nagging in his soul to discover why he was really here. Why did he matter on this earth?

Devon had experienced the height of his career. He had also experienced very low times in his career. He knew there had to be more.

Church on Sunday

So on Sunday morning, he got up for church. The pastor was talking about fasting that day. She said, "In order to gain something in the spiritual, you have to give up something in the natural.' Devon resonated with that. What he did not understand was this guy she kept talking about...Jesus.

'I had heard of Jesus before,' Devon thought, 'but not in this way. Not in a loving way. Not in a caring way. I wanted to know more.'

When the pastor invited the congregation to enter into a relationship with Jesus, Devon's hand shot up from the back! This was a life-changing moment.

Shortly after that, Devon joined the worship team. He probably saw the need! He kept showing up. He was growing, but one day he decided to give everything up for Jesus. At worship practice on a Thursday night, he confessed to the team, "I gave away all my books on New Age. I gave away all my crystals. I'm going to follow Jesus ONLY now."

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Life-Changing Moments

From that day, Devon has never looked back. He is aggressively and passionately seeking God with all his heart. Now he serves at The Heart LA Church on a regular basis and leads the entire sound team. Devon was baptized in the pastor's apartment pool. He was the first person baptized at The Heart LA Church!

Devon even leads a small group at church based on the show about the life of Christ called The Chosen. He is on fire for Jesus and uses his own platform God has given him in the music industry to reach people for Christ! Devon is an incredible man of God and doing AMAZING things for God's kingdom!

Hope in Jesus Christ

Over 100 people have given their heart to Jesus at The Heart LA Church.

We are so thankful that Devon went to Starbucks that day and saw the church sign. We are praying that more people see the sign and find hope through Jesus Christ!

In order to receive salvation you simply have a conversation with God (prayer). You confess your sins, believe that Jesus came, died, and resurrected for you, and invite him into your heart.
