Heart for the City: Sharing God’s Love in Every Corner of Los Angeles

At The Heart LA Church, we believe that God’s heart beats for our city. From the busy intersections of downtown to the quiet streets of our neighborhoods, we are convinced that no person is unseen, and no corner is unreachable. That’s why we’re launching a brand-new outreach initiative called Heart for the City—three powerful days dedicated to spreading the love of Jesus in tangible ways throughout Los Angeles.
We believe that faith doesn’t stop at the church doors. It moves us into action. It leads us to serve. And it compels us to love without limits. Through Heart for the City, we want people in our community to know that God sees them, values them, and cares deeply for their stories.

Here’s how we’re putting that into action over the course of three impact-filled days:
Day One: Hygiene Kit Giveaway

Our city is home to thousands of individuals experiencing homelessness—each with a name, a story, and a need for dignity. On July 22nd, we’ll be assembling and distributing what we’re calling Heart Kits—hygiene kits filled with essentials like soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, wet wipes, socks, and more.
These kits may seem simple, but they’re powerful tools of compassion. More than items in a bag, they’re a reminder to our friends on the streets that they are not forgotten. Our team will not only hand out supplies, but we’ll also take time to offer a kind word, a listening ear, and a prayer.
We believe that God is near to the brokenhearted—and through this effort, we hope to be His hands and feet.
Day Two: Free Coffee for the Neighborhood

There’s something beautiful about slowing down and sharing a cup of coffee. On Tuesday, July 23rd, we’ll be setting up a Free Coffee Station right outside our church, inviting people from the neighborhood to stop by for a free cup of locally brewed coffee or tea.
This day is all about building relationships. We don’t just want to give something—we want to connect. No strings attached. Whether someone is on their way to work, walking their dog, or just passing by, we’ll be there with warm smiles and open hearts, ready to engage in meaningful conversation.
We hope this moment of connection becomes a doorway to deeper relationships and maybe even future community.
Day Three: Back to School Bash

Back-to-school season is exciting—but for many families in our area, it also brings financial stress. That’s why we’re throwing a Back to School Event for local students and their families.
We’ll be giving away:
- 🎒 Brand New Backpacks
- 🧦 New Socks
- 👟 New Shoes
- ✏️ School Supplies
From notebooks and pencils to fully stocked backpacks, our goal is to equip students for success while reminding them that God is cheering them on. We will also have free coffee for all the parents to enjoy!
Every child deserves to start the school year feeling confident and cared for. And every parent deserves a moment of relief and support. That’s what this event is all about.
Why We Do This
Throughout Scripture, we see that God cares deeply for the vulnerable, the overlooked, and the marginalized. Jesus made it a point to stop for individuals, to eat with the outcasts, to serve without condition.
Heart for the City is our way of living that out right here in Los Angeles. It’s more than a weekend. It’s a statement of who we are as a church. We don’t want to just be in the city—we want to be for the city.
